BRED TO be a great racehorse
From the same Tapit & Unbridled’s Song cross as 3X Graded Stakes winner Unique Bella, globetrotting Tacitus and undefeated Annex.
SECOND FASTEST IN HIS COHORT AT FASIG TIPTON
Ran a quarter mile in 21.2 seconds despite a heavy head wind and less than optimal weather. Demonstrating great power and talent.

His mom and grandma have produced stakes horses on the dirt and on the turf, going all distances and at all ages.
Speed, Stamina, STrength.

Sire (dad) ran the fastest ever G1 Met Mile posting a 123 Beyer Figure
Sire earned $3,972,800 in 19 starts.
Dam (mom) is a half-sister to two graded stakes winners: Doremifasollatido (LTE: $264,025) & Fortunate Damsel (LTE: $218,815).
Third dam, Top Corsage, won 7 graded stakes races & earned over $1M in 53 starts.
“What really impressed us was his physical at the barn. He’s a great physical, a very strong, powerful horse.”
Those are the words of David Hanley, legendary Irish horseman and General Manager of WinStar Farm. David knows a thing or two about selecting great racehorses, he and his team have selected horses like Justify, Improbable, Life is Good and many other graded stakes winners.
Trained by Hall of Fame trainer Todd Pletcher, Steinbeck is currently based in Saratoga, NY preparing for his next start in October. He made his career debut at Saratoga on August 28 in a 6 furlong $100,000 Maiden Special Weight. He broke from the gate like a pro and remained 2 ½ lengths off the leader through a blisteringly fast opening quarter, a tough move for a horse designed to run longer distances. In the second half of the race, he tired and wound up 6th. Following the race, trainer Todd Pletcher said, “The longer the race the better for Steinbeck. I’m not going to read into this race much. He needs some more experience and a longer distance.”
His sire Frosted was a force to be reckoned with on the racetrack, a four-time graded stakes winner, he earned $3.97M in 19 career starts. In 2016 he ran the fastest G1 Met Mile ever, earning a Beyer Speed Figure of 123 (the highest since 2007). His stallion career has started just as brilliantly, the #2-second crop sire of 2021 with 45 winners this year alone. Frosted is by Tapit, the #1 active sire by Lifetime Grade I Winners.
His dam Nickel is by the great Unbridled’s Song. Unbridled’s Song is known for providing speed to his offspring and the offspring of his daughters. Notable progeny include Arrogate (LTE: $17.42M), Liam’s Map, Will Take Charge, and Cross Traffic. Steinbeck is from a family of versatile & successful racehorses. His dam Nickel is a half-sister to G2 winner Doremifasollatido (LTE: $264k), Fortunate Damsel (LTE: $218k), and Considerate (LTE: $173K). Finally, his 3rd dam Top Corsage won over $1M and 7 graded stakes races in 53-lifetime starts.
Steinbeck’s pedigree represents a particularly powerful genetic combination (Tapit and Unbridled’s Song) found in three-time Grade 1 winner Unique Bella, globetrotting Tacitus, and undefeated 3-year-old sensation Annex.
Acquired at the 2021 Fasig Tipton Gulfstream Select sale for $650,000, Steinbeck impressed our team with his picture-perfect physical presence; powerful quarter-mile breeze, and perfect veterinary examination.
We cant wait to watch Steinbeck’s story unfold and hope you’ll join us on the journey to the winner’s circle!
