a classic colt in the making
“He’s a very powerful horse with a perfect VET RECORD & wonderful attitude.”
Three reasons to get excited about Steinbeck:
BRED TO be a great racehorse
From the same Tapit & Unbridled’s Song cross as 3X Graded Stakes winner Unique Bella, globetrotting Tacitus and undefeated Annex.
SECOND FASTEST IN HIS COHORT AT FASIG TIPTON
Ran a quarter mile in 21.2 seconds despite a heavy head wind and less than optimal weather. Demonstrating great power and talent.
FROM A FAMILY OF VERSATILE RACEHORSES
His mom and grandma have produced stakes horses on the dirt and on the turf, going all distances and at all ages.
Speed, Stamina, STrength.
Click the video to watch Steinbeck’s impressive performance at the Fasig Tipton Gulfstream Select Sale. He breezed a quarter mile in 21.2 seconds, the second fastest time at that distance.

Sire (dad) ran the fastest ever G1 Met Mile posting a 123 Beyer Figure
Sire earned $3,972,800 in 19 starts.
Dam (mom) is a half-sister to two graded stakes winners: Doremifasollatido (LTE: $264,025) & Fortunate Damsel (LTE: $218,815).
Third dam, Top Corsage, won 7 graded stakes races & earned over $1M in 53 starts.
Steinbeck is a powerful colt built and bred to be a classic racehorse (running distances of 1 mile or more). His sire Frosted is the #2 second crop sire of 2021 with 18 winners this year alone. Frosted is by Tapit, the #1 active sire by Lifetime Grade I Winners. His dam Nickel by Unbridled’s Song is from a family of versatile & successful racehorses, including his 3rd dam Top Corsage who won over $1M and 7 graded stakes races in 53 lifetime starts.
Tapit and Unbridled’s Song represent a particularly powerful genetic combination found in three time Grade 1 winner Unique Bella, globetrotting Tacitus, and undefeated 3-year-old sensation Annex.
Acquired at the 2021 Fasig Tipton Gulfstream Select sale for $650,000, Steinbeck impressed our team with his picture perfect physical presence; powerful quarter mile breeze and perfect veterinary examination. Internationally renowned bloodstock agent & horseman David Hanley said, “He’s a great big strong colt with a powerful hip and leg. He also has loads of class. His breeze showed us his power, but also that he goes lightly across the ground and all without over exerting himself. When we visited him at the barn the next day he looked ready to go again, had a perfect vet and was an absolute specimen physically.”
On June 12, Steinbeck graduated prep training and hauled to Saratoga to begin training with Hall of Fame trainer Todd Pletcher. Pletcher is a 7-time Eclipse Award winner and currently the highest earning trainer in history with lifetime earnings over $407M. We’re excited to see Todd apply his winning formula to Steinbeck and can’t wait to watch the summer season unfold.
