WHAT THE JOB IS ALL ABOUT:

The Racing Coordinator connects backers to the Commonwealth ownership experience through weekly updates, race day events, customer service and more. The position will be roughly 70 percent office work / 30 percent stable, track and event staffing. Reporting to the Head of Racing, they will work closely with the Head of Communications and Brand Lead, and external partners including trainers, horse farms, race track staff and more. 

This critical position is an opportunity to work with industry leading horsemen and world-class racehorses in a hybrid remote/trackside capacity. 

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Racing Customer Communications (50%)

  • Support the production, execution and deployment of Customer focused Content for the CMNWLTH including but not limited to race horse workout videos/photos, educational content, trainer interviews, raceday announcement, performance recaps and more.
  • Manage and deploy content in key channels including app/website, text, email and more.
  • Manage customer service and/or vendor for racing relation inquiries
  • Coordinate with the team to create asset offering materials/profiles for new race horses including photos, videos, write-ups, etc.
  • Assist with measurement, analytics and data reporting.

Event + Customer Experience (30%)

  • Elevate our customer race day experience with flawless execution including managing RSVP lists, coordinating ticket requests, guiding race day logistics and more
  • Develops and builds relationships with shareholders through excellent interpersonal skills and exceptional guest service.
  • Manage customer service requests and email communication with shareholders, deferring to other members of the team when necessary
  • Lead barn/backside tours and experiences for CMNWLTH shareholders
  • Participate in local activations on-track and off-track e.g. trackside parties, after-parties, etc.

Operations and Logistics (20%)

  • Manage racing roster performance tracker, insurance schedules, and trainer’s notes
  • Work closely with race horse trainers and other ownership teams for key communication updates, racedays, training and more.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Ideally a bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication, media, journalism, advertising, or similar and/or 2+ years of experience in a professional field.
  • Understand and represent Commonwealth’s image and reputation both at work and external functions.
  • Significant knowledge and understanding of horse racing strongly preferred.
  • Proficient in Google Workspace: Slides, sheets, docs, calendar, etc.
  • Flexibility to travel to be at tracks for morning workout and weekend race days.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Ability for developing strong professional relationships both inside and outside of the organization 
  • Strong writing, editing, storytelling, and content development skills 
  • Digital experience and open to learning a variety of platforms and applications,
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • Passion for sports, racing, and storytelling. 
  • Marketing, digital, or social media content development experience 
  • Must be comfortable in a fast moving, startup environment;
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize projects to meet deadlines 
  • Excellent organization and problem solving skills
