Writeup

“I Got a Gal is the most exciting two-year-old I have seen in a very long time. She appears to be special and has graded stakes quality written all over her. She is breathtaking to watch.” – Aaron Hesz, Handicapper’s Report

Based in California, she is pointed to her next race on October 8 at Santa Anita Park. Trained by multiple Breeders’ Cup-winning trainer Peter Eurton, the future looks bright for Commonwealth’s first filly. She made career debut on September 5 in a $70,000 Maiden Special Weight where she pressed the pace and showed dazzling speed. After encountering traffic problems in the second half of the race, Gal ended up finishing 5th. Following the race trainer, Peter Eurton said, “I haven’t lost a bit of confidence in her, she needs a bit more experience. I’m still very excited.”

She became the talk of Del Mar in August when she posted back-to-back bullet works (fastest of the day) out of 80+ horses, breezing 5F in 59.20 seconds and 4F in 46.0 seconds one week later. She’s now back on the work tab and progressing perfectly.

Selected for our partnership by the internationally renowned Irish bloodstock agent Marette Farrell, I Got a Gal has surpassed expectations from day one. She was a standout physically, possessing all of the classic qualities of her sire Pioneerof the Nile: a balanced physique, great length of bone, and tremendous class.

To add to her outstanding physical, she clocked one of the fastest times of the sale, breezing 1/8 mile in 10 seconds flat. Most impressive was how she did it, every stride looked easier than the last and our team had the conviction that there was more speed waiting under the hood.

Her sire is the late great Pioneerof the Nile, sire of Triple Crown winner American Pharaoh and 37 other stakes winners including breeding stallions Classic Empire, Midnight Storm, Cairo Prince, and Thousand Words. In his short 9-year stallion career, he left an indelible mark on racing, achieving what most stallions could not, even in two lifetimes. Gal comes from his second to last foal crop and represents irreplaceable genetics.

Her mother, Desert Illusion, is by Sky Mesa and out of To Dream About the daughter of Kentucky Derby-winning stallion Monarchos. Desert Illusion is a full sister to two stakes horses: Awesome Sky (LTE: $143k) and Sky Dreamer (LTE: $176k), the mother of multiple graded stakes winner Kimbear (LTE: $801k). Desert Illusion is a half-sister to G1 winner Dream Dancing (LTE: $483k) and stakes-placed Dream Maker (LTE: $149k).

Further back in the pedigree you’ll find racing royalty. I Got a Gal’s 3rd dam is the Eclipse Award-winning champion mare Beautiful Pleasure (LTE: $2.73M). In 25 starts she won six G1 races, including the Breeders’ Cup Distaff, Hempstead H., and Personal Ensign (twice). Gal’s pedigree represents a powerful combination of racing talent and reproductive prepotency with 10 stakes horses in the first 3 generations alone.

We’re proud to offer this special filly to you and all of your friends. We’ve got a Gal and now you can get one too!
