ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Writeup

Already a proven Grade One winner from one of the top families of the world-famous Juddmonte Farm, Country Grammer is sprinting through a major 4-year old campaign.

Coming off of an impressive win in the Grade One Hollywood Gold Cup at Santa Anita in June, Country Grammer is currently pointed to the $1,000,000 Whitney Stakes at Saratoga on August 7th. Don’t miss your chance to be a part of this exciting colt’s race career!

After the untimely death of his owner, the late great Paul Pompa Jr., in the fall of 2020 Country Grammer was given time off. When it was decided that all of the Pompa horses would be sold in dispersal, he was moved to WinStar Farm to prepare for the sale.

“We had Country Grammer at the farm for Mr. Pompa, and we knew how much he liked him. I loved his race in the Peter Pan, and we felt like he could be a really good 4-year-old.”

In January of 2021, WinStar purchased CG from the Keeneland Horses of All Ages sale for $110,000. He was flown directly to California to begin preparing for his 4-year old campaign with Bob Baffert. WinStar and Baffert are no strangers to the winners’ circle. In 2018 the team won the Triple Crown with Justify and have had a great deal of success.

On April 18, Country Grammer made his first start in the G2 Californian Stakes, finishing second by a neck to Royal Ship. He was 9 lengths ahead of the 3rd place horse and posted a Beyer speed figure of 108. His next start came on May 31 in the G1 Hollywood Gold Cup where he bested rival Royal Ship in one of this year’s most exciting stretch duels taking home $180,000 and a Beyer speed figure of 106.

Our team moved Country Grammer to the stable’s of Hall of Fame trainer Todd Pletcher to continue his illustrious season in New York. His next start will come in the $1M G1 Whitney Stakes to be run at Saratoga on August 7.

He is well suited for the Handicap Division, which means opportunities for big purse money and even bigger thrills; races like the Breeders’ Cup Classic, Pegasus World Cup, Saudi Cup, and Dubai World Cup, to name a few. Wherever he goes, we’re going to have a lot of fun along the way and hope you’ll join us on the journey to the winner’s circle.
